At her home near this city (Albert Lea) on Thursday, September

December 21, 1851, to her husband who survives her. Two years after their
marriage they moved to Pensylvania where they resided until 1864, when they
came to Freeborn county, settling on section 7, Pickerel township, where
they resided until April, 1892, when they moved to Albert Lea township where
her death took place. Besides her husband deceased left five children, three
sons and two daughters, to mourn her death, all of whom were present at the
funeral. Mrs. Spoon was a kind wife, an effectionate mother and left many
friends to mourn her death. The funeral was on Saturday from the late residence.
The Enterprise extends condolences.
Just as the sun was setting mid the old gold tapestry of
the west on Thursday, September 29, 1892, Eliza Spoon, wife and companion
of N. H. Spoon, a respected resident of Freeborn county, passed away quietly
into the valley of the shadow of death. When breathing had ceased and the
soul departed body lay before me in quiet sleep, I saw that death had not
only delivered the soul into the hands of heaven, but had enveloped the long
suffering body to the beauties of a fanciful dream pleased sleep. She was
surrounded by husband, children and grand-children, brother and sisters,
who though daily expecting her death, were frantic with grief on her departure.
She had every care that could be ministered by the kindly assistance and
consideration of friends and meighbors. N. H. Spoon, the patient husband,
desires to thank the many kind friends and neighbors for their aid and solicitude
in this, his greatest affliction.
