from "Sheridan's Daybreak II", 1985 Sheridan County Daybreakers Genealogy Society By Jennie Bromberg and Gladys VanHee Robert VanHee was born in Canada in 1903. He came to Montana in 1921, joining his parents who had come a year before. He took a job of clerking at Weiss Grocery Store in Plentywood. He married Gladys Bantz, 6-15-26. She was a teacher at the Hendrickson School west of Plentywood. Gladys was born in Iowa in 1903. She came to the Outlook community with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bantz in 1909. She attended Outlook School. After graduation, she went to Normal School in Dillon and Miles City. Bob and Gladys moved to Froid, Montana in 1928, and returned to Plentywood the following year. In the thirties, Bob worked for the Producers News in Plentywood. And for a while he managed the roller skating rink at the Farmer Labor Temple. In 1935, they moved to Glasgow. Bob worked on the Fort Peck Dam when it was being built. In 1 941, they moved to Fort Peck, where they managed the news stand. In 1961, they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. They returned to Glasgow in 1971, where they are now living. In 1976, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with friends and relatives at the Ed Bromberg home south of Redstone, MT. Gladys and Bob had no children, but nieces and nephews lived with them on and off through the years. Cleo Morey lived with them the longest. When she was in the 3rd grade her mother passed away. She lived with Bob and Gladys from then, until she graduated from high school. |
